Nilson L. Goes

Nilson Sr. has a history in academia and engineering that has taken him to different parts of the world in the collegiate and private sector. Shortly after earning a PhD from the Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla, Mo., he founded IEC in 1996. He prides himself on taking strategic risks and always being a problem-solver. This approach has resulted in tremendous growth for IEC in its 20-year history.

Today, although he serves as IEC’s president and CEO, he still relishes solving engineering challenges and learning about energy-efficiency technologies. He embodies the company’s commitment to technical skill and engineering knowledge. An avid reader and lifelong learner, Nilson currently resides in Leawood, Kan., and enjoys spending time with his grandchildren and traveling.

Nilson M. Goes

Nilson Jr. is responsible for the all of IEC’s day-to-day operations, including federal & general contracting, and electrical contracting, as well as IEC’s own strategic planning, staff training and development. In this role, he’s focused on continually improving quality, efficiency and safety.

“I’ve always enjoyed the process of growth and improvement—whether it’s an individual, process or organization,” Nilson says. “This is why I enjoy the challenge of growing IEC and making it a better company to work for and work with. It’s our commitment to doing things better each and every day.”

Married with two children, Nilson enjoys mountain biking, camping and surfing, and spends much of his free time tinkering with his 1971 Land Cruiser or riding motorcycles.

Brion Utz

Director of IDIQ Operation

Brion Utz oversees all IDIQ contracts awarded to IEC. These contracts include SABERs at JBC, Whiteman, and Barksdale, a JOC at Ft. Irwin, and several IDIQ contracts with the FAA. Recently, Brion has been utilizing a web based construction management platform to help standardize construction operations at all IEC locations. Brion has been with IEC since 2010, has a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Kansas, and is a registered professional engineer in the State of Kansas.

Mark Newby

Program Manager

Mark Newby manages IEC’s Job Order Contract at Fort Leavenworth KS. This 3 year, 30M Job Order Contract works with the Department of Public Works through the United States Army Corps of Engineers to serve the construction needs of the Fort in all divisions of construction. Previously, Mark has overseen IEC’s regional IDIQ programs for the Federal Aviation Administration and General Services Administration. Mark brings more than 25 years of construction experience to the IEC team in addition to his engineering management degree from the Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla..

Tim Corbett

Program Manager

Tim Corbett manages IEC’s Knob Noster, Mo./Whiteman AFB office. Overseeing a 10-person office, Tim is responsible for the day-to-day management of all construction activities at Whiteman AFB, including a $48 million SABER contract for the 509th Contracting Squadron. Tim has been with IEC since 2014 and brings more than 25 years of experience in addition to his degree in business administration from the University of Central Missouri.

Jim Howie

Program Manager

Jim Howie manages IEC’s Barstow, Calif./Fort Irwin office. Jim joined IEC in 2011 and has been an instrumental part of our California operations. He oversees a six-person office responsible for a $50 million JOC contract, two $4 million POCA contracts and numerous stand-alone contracts at Fort Irwin.

Tom Medina

Program Manager

Tom manages IEC’s Simplified Acquisition Basic Engineering Requirements (SABER) Contract at Joint Base Charleston in South Carolina. This SABER contract serves the Joint Base of the United States Air Force and Navy across a variety of construction projects on the Air Force Base, Nuclear Weapons and Naval warfare facility- as well as surrounding areas of military support. Tom leads IEC’s JBC SABER of project managers, superintendents, and contract support. Tom has earned 35 years of construction experience in Government Contracting and has led IDIQ contracts throughout the southeast United States and Puerto Rico and studied at Vincennes University.

Bob pridgen

Construction Manager

Bob Pridgen manages construction activities at Barksdale AFB. Bob recently joined the IEC team to manage our recently awarded SABER contract at Barksdale AFB. Bob has been an active member of the construction community around Bossier City, La., and brings more than 40 years of construction experience to IEC, including more than 25 years of IDIQ construction experience.

Rick Freeman

Senior Project Manager for Electrical and Construction Projects

Rick Freeman provides electrical and construction expertise for all IDIQ contracts. Rick is involved in the entire life-cycle of contracts from estimating to closeout. He is responsible for managing electrical projects for our government contracts. Rick has been with IEC for nearly 20 years and brings close to 40 years of electrical construction experience. Rick holds a master electrician certification through IBEW local 124 and numerous certifications in the electrical discipline.

John Hernandez

Senior Project Manager for the Electrical Program

John Hernandez oversees the daily management of IEC’s Electrical Division in Kansas City and Louisiana. In this role- John oversees and supports estimation and field management across IEC’s multiple commercial and federal projects in the Midwest and Bossier City, LA markets. John and the Project Management/Estimation team lead and support IEC’s 70-person electrician force. John is an IBEW trained electrician and holds various electrical certifications which help him and team to provide solutions, value engineering, and performance on each project.

Travis Miller

Travis Miller oversees IEC’s Corporate Safety Mission and the implementation of safety planning throughout IEC’s areas of operations (Commercial, Industrial, Federal). He oversees the allocation of safety resources from IEC’s Corporate Headquarters and conducts valuable safety and environmental training across all of IEC’s project sites. Travis brings 14 years of direct safety management experience to the IEC Team along with a passion to create a positive and sustainable safety culture. Travis earned his Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety from Eastern Kentucky University and Associates of Applied Science in Occupational Safety from San Juan College. He is a certified OSHA trainer.
